This year I planned to turn back in Val d’Orcia for Easter period, while I was here I decided to return to the Vitaleta church which is located near the town of San Quirico d’Orcia and it represents one of the most famous spot of the place. While I was on my way to Vitaleta it started to rain, not so much to tell the truth but much enough to soften the ground that was around the chapel Vitaleta, the result was that I found under my shoes two big pyramids of mud 🙂
I made several shots, some with my nd filter and others without it, the idea was to unite the brightest shots but with static clouds with those who had long exposure to the clouds
WORKFLOW EXPLANATION
I blended the images with luminosity masks, then I used the resulting frame to blend it with a long exposure taken with nd filter, for the blend I used a gradient tool. With TTS Fast Panel I launched hight details, sharpen, an orton effect. With dodge and burn I lightened some part of the ground and of the church. I made some color corrections in the highlights increasing warm light and fixed contrast with luminosity mask applied to midtones
With levels adjustment layers I made some adjustment to contrast, highlights and darsk. As final touch I created a vignette effect increasing light in the middle of the picture. I hope you can find this usefull, I’m always happy to ear it from your
