The Balcony View

The Balcony View

Tags :

I still do not have a drone, but at first glance it may seem like an aerial photo, but it is not ūüôā ¬†This is the view of the balcony of Italy, an amazing place between Italy and Switzerland. In particular this incredible view is on the mountain of Sighignola for the occasion often called the balcony of Italy for the view overlooking the lake of Lugano

The place is reached by a small  road that crosses the mountains, the place once reached is a large terrace overlooking this view that you see. Since I took this picture in December here at 1300 meters the wind was very cold and very strong. I did all very wide bracketing to capture the whole dynamic range between the strong light of the horizon and the shadows near the lake

WORKFLOW EXPLANATION

I stacked all the shots into layers and I blended them using luminosity masks, I started from the darker shots to end with the brightest to reach the right luminosity balance

Using my panel, I launched details and dodge and burn to increase lights around the darker parts of the mountain. After a soft orton effect  I fixed lights and darks using luminosity masks applied to curves layer to increase the luminosity of the sky and the darker parts of the image

I fixed color cast and I increase the yellows using a warming filter, with the clone stamp tool I removed some spots and some other littl unwanted element in the frame

As always I hope you will find all this usefull. I’m happy to ear this from you!

Vertical version of my previous post “Infinity Meteora”. The place where I took this photo is a rocky promontory that extends downstream from where it can be admired one of the best views of the meteors, needless to say that all around this promontory there are only cliffs and escarpments ¬†but 360 degrees around it viewer a magnificent view.

To shooting this picture I reach the place in late afternoon, close the blue hour. Taken 5 shots and edited with luminance masks discarding the last overexposed one (useless, too bright). During the Photoshop work I brought the color to yellow rather than the blue of the blue hour, I made several comparisons and I think that this place has an impact much nicer using golden shades. I worked a lot on light shadows and contrasts, not many details as I have tried to increase mostly the glow effect of the picture.

Malcesine: Although this frame is not the point at the top to take pictures of the village, the cliff is on the right is very suggestive and cozy, also the beautiful glow that could be seen at the bottom of the mountains created a strange and particular magic in the picture. I took this picture from a balcony that was precisely on the road that leads up to the castle, are only 3 exposures taken by placing the camera on the railing of this balcony.

As I said in my previous post¬†Queen of Rocks¬†Capri is a small, beautiful and very exclusive island of the coast of Campania, I have been in neighboring areas several times¬†but I’d never been before on this island. The story has it that every time I’m around and¬†I want to make a daily trip to Capri the day that I¬†decided to leave it rain so much! This summer I was able to make me a very hardly day on the island and of course it was raining ¬†ūüėÄ … Oh well, what you see in the picture is the overcast sky that alternated with intervals of the day, but the subject is certainly the most important thing the Faraglioni ¬†of ¬†Capri are famouses all over the world thanks to the magnificent historical overview offered by the gardens of Augustus.

One of the most beautiful islands in the world, certainly is Capri, just the queen of the rocks. I had never been to Capri before this year and I was pleasantly impressed by the magnificent views that can be admired from the island,¬†although it must be said that it is a very small island and also very exclusive. I certainly don’t have met a wonderful day during my excursion to Capri, but surely the clouds and the overcats sky helped me create great shots even in hours not really close at sunset.

Lake Bohinj is an incredible and magical place. After passing a magnificent road through incredibles Slovenian¬†campaigns¬†and wonderful¬†mountains landscapes, I finally arrived at Lake Bohinj (Ribcev Laz), it is all surrounded by nature and¬†among a great and luxuriant forests. The Lake Bohinj as well as being swimming, allowing you to dive for some minute in the peace and quiet of nature, it is also ¬†a terrific place for watching one of the best Slovenian Lanscapes. To take this HDR I entered myself with my feet in the water to take as a point of observation with reflections but without lens flares, and at last, because the situation demanded it for relax ūüėÄ
