The Cloudsroof
The Abbey of San Galgano is a cistercian abbey, located to thirty kilometers from Siena, in the city of Chiusdino. The site consists in a hermitage (Montesiepi Rotonda) and from the great abbey, now completely ruined and reduced to only walls.
Nevertheless the abbey of St. Galgano is not left in total decay, this abbey is the destination of tourist flow and the place is maintained by the confraternity who is dealing. To make this shot I made 7 brackets exposures using a ND64 filter to remove people moving in the church
WORKFLOW EXPLANATION
I make a digital blending between the images discarding only a couple of too light frames, using luminosity masks, I adjusted the highlights and darks, some points of the abbey were very dark so with my panel I launched dodge and burn to lighten or darken the image at the points that I wanted
After adding a little ‘to contrast with the midtones masks, I stepped details and sharpen in the frame. As the last adjustments I set the color cast lowering some blue saturation in the clouds. I hope you find this information useful, if you have any suggestions write to me, I love always hear you
