Another picture from the beautiful sunset in Oia Santorini. The timing is approximately ten minutes after the first image¬†I posted. This photo is a particular of the famous mill of Oia and of the houses around. To get this, I did not take a shot on 35 / 40mm as needed but what did a picture crop to 24mm to catch the best from my 14-24mm Nikon definitely higher as the other basic I have. The final result satisfy me very much cause I think that the village and their white houses are the best from this place, you don’t think? ūüôā

I made 5 shots for this picture but twice discarded, so I used only 3. After a manual blending of the images to arrange exposure, lights and shadows, as in the previous photo I made a big work to remove people shooting the sunset.

Camera: Nikon D-800

Oia Sunset

The famous as beautiful sunset in Oia, Santorini. Personally, the most beautiful sunset and exciting I’ve ever photographed, not surprisingly, the place in August was very full of people everywhere over each other trying to capture a sunset. To take this shot I come on my place around 3 hours before, around the sun goes down I was surrounded by hundred people ūüôā

To figure out how many people were in the village of Oia just look carefully along the streets of the village, you will notice a human chain along the entire route of the roads. Once at home I made a very big job of editing on this picture. I wanted a wide photo but with a little more defined to the village and in the center, so I decided to make a partial crop to focus more towards the center and remove part of the walls of the houses that were within the frame. But the main difficulty was to eliminate and reduce the visual impact of the hundreds of people who had in the frame, in addition to the elimination of antenna that I was in front and I could not erase in any way except with Photoshop. From thecomparison you can better understand what I mean

Thira Glory

One shot from the beautiful Thira, the capital of the incredible island of Santorini, taken during the sunset. Included among the goals of my trip to Greece, this island was probably one of my favorite destinations in recent years. Santorini is famous for its magnificent sunsets and this is just one of many that I could take pictures during my stay. During this shot I was on top of the town of Thira, the sun plunged into the sea every day and there was nothing more of spectacular for me.

For this picture I took this picture with three exposures facing the sun, holding my camera handheld, at home I arranged the image with Photoshop using the luminance masks, I improved the contrasts, highlights, and create a more striking effect of the colors of the sunset.

How to find top photography spots

How to find top photography spots

Giuseppe Sapori - Infinity Meteora

It happens to all to want to go to some nice place to photograph, to have it in front of our eyes and to take all the beauty of a place that, until that moment, we have only seen in web pictures or in a few postcards. In photography, a ¬†landscape, a particular view, a position¬†can radically change the final result of a photo, and this also affects much of the final result. When I traveling into a place to photograph the scene, I want to be sure that the angle from which I’m taking it, is one of the best if not the best possible, weather and light conditions on the course…

Then I decided to create a little guide to share with you what are my main activities and ways to achieve my top photography spots:

Whatch internet images

It’s the first things you do, probably before your trip.¬†It is probably the fastest way to know your goal if supported by a tour scoured to understand what are the main spots of our location.

Look at the postcards

First, basic … at least I need inspiration, then do a tour the night before in the gift shops and look at the postcards of the place. In these pictures you can find beautiful images of the place where you are, photographed in the best locations. Usually I take inspiration from here and start to think about where the photographer could find ¬†as he took that picture.

Speak with local people

If you find nice and avaiable people, sometimes this solution may be the best of all, in the course of my travels I have found many useful tips on the best places to admire a beautiful sunset, a  panoramic view with the advice that only a local can know.

Ok I know the spot. But how reach it?

Sometimes it can be easy sometimes more complex depending on where you are in the cities, often best views are given by the city itself and other times to get a good view you need to look a bit ‘more, we see how to extricate inside of a labyrinth of possible scenarios.

– Take on the rooftop bar / restaurant

Specially  in the perched villages  as this is the best solution, the restaurant with the beautiful view also gives a fantastic terrace where you can have all the best pictures of the place without people or TV antennas in front of your goal. I move often into these places to see if they make me take pictures from their terrace, sometimes I sit down for a glass of wine, with minimal expense you will take a great loot.

– Take an excursion / tour

This is ¬†a ¬†not cheap solution ¬†but that saves you a lot of hassle. It’s important to¬†check the validity of the tour you are doing but if the route is good you can easily¬†admire a sunset, somewhere particular with no worry, leading you with a van in the best spots possible to photograph it.

– Rent a car / motorcycle / scooter

If the selected site is located outside of residential areas it can sometimes be almost essential travel there by car. Imagine a place of unspoilt nature at sunset coincides with the dark and often even in areas not well served by public transport, although this is a solution that does not particularly like (I like to turn on with local transports) but sometimes can be important to see with all calm all the beauties of the place and look for the best spot.

– Try to get there before

In any case, stay always in place before, can sometimes be useless at times it may be necessary to understand where position yourself, adjust the camera, take your time, do things slowly. Photographing is sometimes like to fish you have to wait for the right time and if it goes well and if you have time also to go back the next day.

Be prepared also to some climbing  out of the program, I started as a simple photographer now I become  little hiker. ; D

Second shot of this magnificent place that is Meteora, this is definitely one of the most interesting and most beautiful spots that can offer Meteora, a spot near Rossanou monastery in the middle of the valley. Watching on the right of the landscape the ones you see on the right are respectively the largest and the smallest monastery of the 6 in the Meteora area. The biggest high is the monastery of the Great Meteor, under the rather small Agios Nikolaos.

TECHNICAL STUFF

Taken 5 Shots, and entirely merged manually with the help of luminance mask,  some points of the landsape was very dark so i use all my exposures, usually I discard the most overexposed of the series but this time was necessary. I intensify colors bringing them more yellows, i make also a big work on the lights who hit the foreground.

Camera: Nikon D-800

Lens: Nikon 14-24mm f/2,8 (Shot at 14mm)

ISO: 200 at f/8

5 Shots (-2; -1; 0; +1; +2)

Golden Darkness

In this picture we are the whole of the Basilica of St.Antonio into the heart of Sorrento. From the outside this looks like an ordinary church building, outside it is not too obvious about the typical shape of the churches, but inside as well as being beautiful and also reports of¬†considerable lighst shows. I come inside the church for curiosity before dinner time, the church was open and magically there was not even a tourist, so I took advantage of the moment where there was no one, unfortunately, as I said I was going to dinner and I had no tripod with me so I made all from a single exposure, but I think it gave its excellent results the same ūüôā
