Views of Siena from the roofs, I took this shot during a visit on t the so-called facciatone, very large archway present to the left of the cathedral in Siena. The view of the city from here  is very interesting and certainly one of the best things to do in Siena. The only limit, is that the rooftop of facciatone is within a guided tour so you can not stay on top for more than 15 minutes. I took this picture with 3 handheld bracketed exposures  since was not allowed to use tripod

WORKFLOW EXPLANATION

The first thing was to align the three exposures that I blended together using luminosity masks. Always using luminosity masks, I set the shadows areas and lights one, with hue / saturation I desaturated the blue intensity of the sky. I launched dodge and burn to better adjust the exposure along the cathedral and the sky and with Fast Panel I launched high details and sharpen effect to have a great detail exalt in the frame. As the final touch i adjust the contrast in the image.

It ‘was a quick and easy editing, I did not want to touch the colors that were was very natural. I hope you find this information useful, if you have any tips or comments, write it as well. I love to hear it from you:)

The heart of Siena in a photo, the beautiful cathedral in middle of the square town e in a late December afternoon. I made this photo from a series of shots, from a minimum of 5 seconds to a maximum of 30 using a filter nd64 -6 stop. Try to imagine how many people, tourists and some vehicles was in the square at five of afternoon, i tried to “clean all” using a long exposure with the filter, specifically I use Haida filter and holder on my Nikon 14-24, I use Haida filters  for about 2 months and so far have always behaved very well 🙂

WORKFLOW EXPLANATION

I blended the exposures taken together using luminosity masks, I had the shots taken at different times of the evening, I blended  2 shots  between best sky and less people/more light trails available in one final frame. With TTS Fast Panel I used dodge and burn to lighten some dark parts of the foreground and darken some too light part of the cathedral

With the transform command I repositioned the perspective of the photo correcting some falling lines, especially among the buildings around the basilica. I used luminosity masks to correct lights and highlights behind the cathedral and to lighten the foreground that was very dark, with my panel I launched details and sharpen. At the end I increased contrast using curves exalting the middle light

Hello guys, during my weekend in Milan I had also time for the classic site of the city,  the Duomo. This is a gigantic Cathedral which is located in the main square of the city. The Duomo of Milan is the main tourist attraction of the city, much visited, very big and beautiful. Inside this cathedral, photography it is quite difficult cause this is a cathedral of Gothic style with high ceilings and dark walls as well as tacky tourists at all hours of the day, tripods within cannot be used and thus inevitably make the final result very difficult.
In return the Milan Cathedral has one of the most beautiful terraces of the city, until a few years ago, before the construction of the Porta Nuova and its skyscrapers, where we talked about in previous posts neighborhood, was the highest point of the city. I took several photos in this location including this evocative detail of one of the arches making up the tip of the Duomo. I relized this image from a Photoshop collage, using “vertorama”, I took three exposures for the part of the canopy that makes up the foreground and 3 other exposures to high, then part I combined the images with the Photoshop function, then I realized the main interventions with Camera Raw, various application for my actions, LAB coloring and Dodge & Burn will soon be my new tutorial 🙂

After the beautiful days in Seville I went in the no less beautiful Valencia, here the photography spots are very much and I started precisely with a picture very representative of the city, the view of the Cathedral of Valencia, very big and with high ceilings it guards inside the cup of Holy Grail. The Cathedral of Valencia although it is a very important visit spot has a flow of tourists very well spread out in groups, this allows to visit it calmly without the crowd of people, and above all take pictures without too many tourists in front of the lens 🙂
When I took this picture I had in mind a vertorama and I did different tests at various distances in the nave of the cathedral, the main difficulty was trying to reconnect with those columns from the top to the bottom, without the help of the tripod, but I found that with photomerge function Photoshop CC2015 with a steady hand they can make beautiful collage. I combined the images and processed entirely the result with Camera Raw.

This is the Cathedral of Naples, the city’s main cathedral. It is one of the largest basilicas of the city is also home to the oldest baptistery of the West Europe. It is in this place that takes one of the most incredibleand important cities, the dissolution of the blood of San Gennaro kept in special ampoules. Religious facts aside, I was struck by the biggest of this cathedral as well as the high ceilings and very silent this atmosphere with very low lights, much of the light that filtered in through the windows of the nave in fact came up. I made this HDR with a single click freehand obtained with the technique of HDR 32-bit.

My first day in Ljubljana and the first thing I saw… When I came here I was very impressed. Living in Rome I am accustomed to the beauty of some church but the Cathedral of St. Nikolaja is one of the most beautiful churches I’ve seen.  It is not very big but by golden columns, the high ceilings and bright are very interesting to see. I came here almost at closing time, luckily there were not many people I made the HDR from 3 exposures merged with the method of 32 bit and edited with the use of luminance masks.

ISO: 100 at f/7,1

Lisbon Cathedral inside view

An inside view of the famous Lisbon Cathedral. I made this HDR by placing the camera on a bench. You can clearly see the part illuminated by artificial light on the right  and the part that is affectedby the natural light that filters through the rose windows.
